We hear that after reading the reviews of Humshakals, Saif Ali Khan is keeping a safe distance from the film. He consciously stayed away from all the “success” parties of this movie. Apparently most of his friends from the industry warned him to stay away from this film but he went ahead anyway, lured by the hopes of box office success. For the first time in his career, Saif’s performance has been criticised in a film. We hear that he is not responding to Sajid Khan’s calls regarding the next film that they were supposed to do together. Right now the actor is only concentrating on Happy Ending, Phantom and his next with Reema Kagti.

 PR mishaps

A recent news item suggested that Sonam Kapoor bagged Salman Khan starrer Prem Ratan Dhan Payo because of her father Anil Kapoor. Anil reportedly made a phone call to Salman asking him to cast Sonam in Sooraj Barjataya’s much talked about film. Rumour has it that this is the work of the public relations company that was previously managing her work. Now that she is no longer with them, she is facing accusations of nepotism. It seems like someone’s out to get revenge.

 Vidya stands alone

We have heard that even Vidya Balan has stepped away from her PR firm because she was not happy with the way her life has been portrayed in the media in the last few months. The actress was in the news not for her films but for rumours of a troubled marriage and wrongly speculated pregnancy. She was livid when her husband’s name was linked to an upcoming actress. Right now Vidya is going solo and has decided not to team up with any PR firm in a hurry.

 Newbie actor misjudged?

New girl on the block Kriti Sanon is in the news for many wrong reasons. After making her Bollywood debut with Heropanti, she signed Singh is Bling with Akshay Kumar. These days her name is being linked to a married producer. Rumour has it that the man is so besotted with Kriti that she’s been signed on for a three-film deal with the studio. But our sources insist that there is no truth to this matter. We feel bad for the poor girl whose hard work and talent has been overlooked because of these rumours.

SRK conferred France’s highest honour

 French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius on Tuesday conferred his country’s highest award – Knight of the Legion of Honour – on Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in recognition of his outstanding contribution to cultural diversity across the world.

I am truly humbled to receive this honour

The function was held at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel here.

“There are different moments in life that make you feel that you are on the right track and this is one such moment. I am truly humbled to receive this honour,” said Shah Rukh, thanking French President Francois Hollande and Foreign Minister Fabius for finding him “fitting for this honour”.

“I am a part of the Indian film fraternity and it makes me feel proud to be recognized for the field I am most passionate about. This honour has further motivated to take Indian cinema to the next level of acceptance, love and glory. And thank you France for being so loving and appreciative of Indian films, it’s extremely encouraging,” he said.

Created in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte, the Legion of Honour is the highest award given by the France for outstanding service to the country, regardless of the nationality of the recipients.

Nagarjuna, while interacting with media said,” I may have given them some anxious moments and made them sweat but I love being their best friend and steer them to winning as much money as possible. I am overjoyed that more and more homes are watching MEK.” The superstar turned TV anchor also mentioned that facing tense contestants and easing out their pressure was one of the biggest challenges of the show. “Audience and millions of television viewers are on the edge of their seat that adds to the excitement of this game. Easing the tension of the participants is one of the biggest challenges I find as an anchor”, added the Geethanjali actor.

With celebrities like Amala Paul, Shriya Saran and Vidya Balan attending MEK and the presence of a new celeb in every episode is making sure that Nagarjuna’s TV show stays at top of the charts. We hope that Nagarjuna retains the midas touch and probably passes a little to his son Naga Chaitanya, whose latest release Autonagar Surya is having a hard time at box office.

Composer SS Kumaran launches online voice bank

Popular composer SS Kumaran recently launched an online voice bank with a motive to inspire aspiring singers

Known for composing music for films like Poo and Kalavani, Kumaran is not in favour of encouraging actors-turned-singers, who can’t understand or speak the language.

“The latest trend in industry is that an increasing number of actresses are turning singers. Firstly, most of them don’t even dub in their own voice for their films. In that case, how can they even sing for films? I feel singers should know and understand the language they’re singing in,” Kumaran told a popular news portal.

Tamil film actors such as Shruti Haasan, Andrea Jeremiah and Lakshmi Menon recently turned singers.

“We have a lot of untapped potential. The reason I’ve set up this online voice bank is to bring fresh talent to limelight. Aspiring singers can post their songs in the voice bank and if I’m impressed, I’ll make them sing in my films,” he added.

He also wants other music composers to make use of his voice bank.

“I would be happy if other composers also make use of talent from my voice bank. It will be encouraging for aspiring singers to look at singing as a profession and not just a hobby. I also plan to extend this invitation to lyricists,” he said.

Kumaran is currently busy composing tunes for Tamil film Inippu Kaaram.

A source close to the film informs that the city of Kolkata holds a special place in Vidya’s heart. She had spent a lot of her younger days in the city and therefore always makes it a point to visit her lucky place before any of her film releases. More recently she shot Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaaniextensively in Kol. It was only during the shoot of Kahaani that Vidya got a chance to experience the city in its true form and colour. This southern babe can fluently chat in Bangla and is a big fan of Prosenjit.

The two stars keep in touch despite their respective busy schedules. Even when Vidya was in Kolkata for promoting Bobby Jasoos, she called up Prosenjit and spent some time catching up on all the latest gossip with him. Vidya’s spokesperson informs “Vidya was in Kolkata only for a day with things lined up back to back. However she was keen to meet Prosenjit, even if it was briefly.”

When Shahid Kapoor’s current girlfriend and ex, Sonakshi Sinha and Priyanka Chopra posed together for the shutterbugs at IIFA 2014 they left onlookers shocked. In fact, the Exotic babe had even posted this picture on Twitter wherein both the B-town beauties were seen giggling. But the whole Sona and PC getting along was just an act it seems. We say so coz recently these two starlets shot for a commercial together. However, the makers had a tough time getting Priyanka and Shotgun Junior in one frame.

First, the duo took forever to get ready and then both Priyanka and Sonakshi didn’t step out of their vanity vans for several hours. Since these two B-town beauties were all friendly during IIFA, the makers thought they would get along while shooting the commercial as well. Sadly that wasn’t the case. Apparently, the makers even thought of filming Sona and Ms Chopra’s portion separately but after lot of mehnat they managed to get them together in one frame. Well, if this is indeed true then one thing is for sure – Sonakshi and Priyanka aren’t BFF’s . Wethinks it’s coz of a certain Shahid connection, or it could also be coz of professional rivalry too.
