Another classic song is given a new life in Bollywood

Bollywood has been famous for presenting old wine in a new bottle. Songs, especially, have made for frequent rehashes.
Film-makers have long relied on popular old hits to grab attention. R.D. Burman's magical Pyar Mein Dil Pe Maar De Goli, from the film Mahaan, which was sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle is the latest to join the list.
The popular '80s number will be seen again in upcoming film Tamanchey featuring Richa Chadda and Nikhil Dwivedi. In fact, Tamanchey also uses the first line of the song as its poster tagline. The remixed version has also been liberally used as background score in the film's trailer.
However, video cassette company Shemaroo, which holds the rights of the original film, has objected to the use of the song as background score. Controversy or not, the fad is here to stay.
Only a few weeks ago, a remixed version of Aaj Phir Tum Pe Pyar Aaya Hai from the 1988 dud Dayavan, starring Vinod Khanna and Madhuri Dixit, featured in Hate Story 2. Popular singer Arijit Singh along with Samira Koppikar gave it a contemporary feel for the new-age audience. Arijit created similar magic with a remixed version of Har Kissi Ko Nahi Milta in Boss. The original song from Jaanbaz featured Sridevi and Feroz Khan.

R D Burman's Pyar Mein Dil Pe Maar De Goli gets a new twist in Tamanchey

Bollywood has been famous for presenting old wine in new bottle. Songs, especially, have made for frequent rehashes. Film-makers for long have relied on popular old hits to grab attention. R.D. The original song from Jaanbaz featured Sridevi and Feroz Khan. Music composer Pritam, who has remixed quite a few songs over the years, however, says there also a flip side to remixing hits.
"There is always the fear of tampering the original wrongly," he said in an interview. Composer duo Vishal-Shekhar rehashed hit number Bachna Ae Haseeno from Rishi Kapoor's Hum Kisise Kum Naheen for the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Bachna Ae Haseeno. "Old melodies when combined with new instrumentation and orchestra, gives a treat to new generation listeners," said Shekhar Ravjiani. The trend has now become an unwritten rule in Bollywood masala films.
Yeh Mera Dil in the remake of Don, Disco Deewane in Student Of The Year, Dhak Dhak in Nautanki Saala, Hawa Hawaai in Shaitan and Apni Toh Jaise Taise in Housefull are some other recent notable examples.

Raksha Bandhan special: Bollywood's best songs on festive eve

The last time we saw Bollywood top stars bonding and bickering on screen as siblings was in Josh where Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai's camaraderie as brother and sister overshadowed their chemistry with their respective partners. Remember Apun Bola Tu Meri Laila? And though it was not specifically a brother-sister song, one can't miss the special bond between the two in the number. Hardly, we see filmmakers showing this rishta on screen now, hopefully Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadhakne Do will bring back the bro-sis storyline back in Hindi cinema. Here's a look at some of the best numbers that bring out this bond so effortlessly on screen...
Phoolon Ka Taaron Ka (Hare Krishna Hare Ram)
Their romantic pairing notwithstanding, Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman will always be remembered for one of the best portryal of bhai-behen rishta in this movie.
Behna Ne Bhai Ki Kalai Se (Resham Ki Dori)
The title says it all. The Dharmendra movie was based on brother-sister bonding, not to mention the popularity of the song which is a fave on rakhi festival.
Bhaiya Mere Rakhi Ke Bandhan (Choti Behan)
Another hit number, the song stars Nanda and Balraj Sahani. The Choti Behen and bada bhai are the central characters of the film.
Dekh Sakta Hoon – Majboor
Farida Jalal unquestionably was one of the favourite sisters of Bollywood in 70s. The song aptly sets the mood of the film in which Amitabh Bachchan tries to secure his family's future after he comes to know that he may not live that long to do kanyadaan of her handicapped sister.
Meri Pyari Beheniya (Sacha Jhoota)
This one is another hit number played during the raksha bandhan festival where Rajesh Khanna dances in other girl's wedding while his own sister is struggling to catch his attention.
Mere Bhaiya Mere Chanda (Kajaal)
The song is all about a sister's love for her brother. Meena Kumari expresses her feelings for her brother and prays for his well-being.
Rakhi Dhagon Ka (Rakhi)
Ashok Kumar and Waheeda Rehman as siblings, and as the name suggests it is all about love between bhai-behen.
Meri Rakhi Ka Matlab (Tiranga)
Though it has been quite some time since its release, this song can be called the most recent number on rakhi whereVarsha Usgaonkar ties thread to her three brothers.
Ab Ke Baras Bhej (Bandini)
Bimal Roy's poignant portrayal of women inmates in jail yearning for their brothers is one of the best songs about this special love. The soulful voice of Asha Bhosle resonates in mind long after the song is over.

Independence Day Special: 5 popular patriotic songs of Bollywood!

As India celebrates the 68th year of Independence, we  list down 5 songs that always leave us teary-eyed and at the same time evoke our patriotic side

Filmmakers have always stirred up patriotic feelings by incorporating inspiring songs in their movies. While most of us are busy running in the rat race, we are time and again reminded of our love for our motherland with these soul touching songs. In the spirit of Independence Day, we give you five songs that are sure to rekindle the feeling of Desh Bhakti in you. Get ready to be motivated:
Dil diya hai jaan bhi denge
This song featured in Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff and Naseeruddin Shah’s film Karma, which released way back in 1986. M. Aziz & Kavita Krishnamurthy have sung this melodious number which became a national rage back then. Music composer Laxmikant Pyarelal and lyricist Anand Bakshi have depicted the feeling of patriotism beautifully in this track.
Bharat humko jaan se pyaara hai
Sung by Hariharan, this song is from the 1992 hit film Roja and was composed by none other than the Mozart of Madras, A.R Reheman. The patriotic number advocates the feeling of brotherhood and what makes it edgy is the sudden change of tempo.
Rang de basanti
This song from Aamir Khan starrer Rang De Basanti was also composed by AR Rahman and written by Prasoon Josh. Though it’s not a typical patriotic number, Rang de basanti was an instant hit amongst the masses, courtesy its peppy music and beautiful lyrics. In fact, this popular track was used during a flash mob dance at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai on November 27, 2011, in honour of those who died in the 26/11 attacks on the city.
Yeh jo desh hai tera, swades hai tera
Javed Akhtar’s meaningful lyrics and AR Rahman’s amazing singing makes this soulful track fromSwades a classic. The song oozes patriotism, despite its petal soft vocals
Vande mataram

This list would be incomplete if we didn’t mention AR Rahman’s soul stirring rendition of Vande mataram. The musical genius reinvented the national song and how! He truly succeeded in capturing the true essence of India in it. Even today Rahman’s engaging version finds place in most people’s playlist.

I owe my Bollywood career to modelling: Esha Gupta

  • esha-gupta
Esha Gupta has credited her days in modelling for her stint as an actress in Bollywood.
The 'Humshakals' actress, who started off her career in showbiz as a model, was the show-stopper for her designer friend Jyotsna Tiwari on the final day of India Bridal Fashion Week.
"I started my career as a model and if I am standing here as a show-stopper, it is all due to my modelling. It made me an actress and gave me my much-needed break. I still get nervous when I walk on the ramp and still seek for blessings before starting the catwalk. I owe a lot to it, " Esha told reporters after the show.
Esha turned a contemporary Christian bride on the ramp.
She completed the look of the bride in a flowy gown and a veil covering her head.
"I am happy to wear such a contemporary wedding gown which does not make me look sexy. She gave me something which is young and contemporary," she added.
Asked if she would like to be dressed as a contemporary bride and do a Christian wedding, the 28-year-old actress said, "My mother would kill me if I don't do Indian traditional wedding and my father wants an Arya Samaj way of wedding. But I have no wedding plans for next ten years." Esha said she is yet to sign something substantial in Bollywood after Sajid Khan's 'Humshakals' and is currently gearing up for her debut international project which she will start shooting in October.
Jyotsna's collection was titled 'Under the Stars'. The silhouette ranged from pre-draped sarees, evening gowns, crafted lehengas to voluminous anarkalis in pastel shades.

"Fanny Re" song is quirky & funny!

The first song of ‘Finding Fanny’ is out! Interestingly for shooting this song "Fanny Re", the film’s director Homi Adajania convinced his stellar cast to shoot a quirky music video - that is bang on the lines of the texture of the film. For which he roped in choreographer Shiamak Davar for this video that has the cast doing a freewheeling dance number.
Recalling those times, Homi said, "Shooting the song Fanny Re was a laugh! Shiamak saw a few scenes and I told him to stay true to the tone of the film. He laughed saying that he wouldn’t have to do anything. It was a reunion of sorts for the cast, with Deepika, Naseer, Arjun, Pankaj and Dimple back together having a blast and freewheeling. I still can’t get over Dimple’s frenzied ‘prosthetic’ bum shake move. It’s hilarious!".
Shiamak added, "I've known both Homi and Anaita for years so the level of comfort I share with them reflected on the sets while shooting Fanny Re. It was great fun choreographing the video as the cast included legends like Pankaj Kapoor, Nasseruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia along with two of today's biggest superstars Deepika (Padukone) and Arjun Kapoor)! And through the choreography, I wanted to bring out each one's character and their own personality. For me, this was one of the most fun videos I've worked on!"
To be released in Hindi and English, ‘Finding Fanny’ is a quirky comedy, that narrates the story of five oddballs who venture out in search of Stefanie Fernandes (Fanny). The film traces their journey as the characters find meaning to their otherwise pointless lives. Produced by Maddock Films and presented by Fox Star Studios, the film releases on September 12.

Shah Rukh Khan's dance with Kolkata's lady cop gets criticized

Like Vidya Balan, Shah Rukh Khan too has been in awe of the beauty and culture of West Bengal. The actor owns the team Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL and being the brand ambassador of Kolkata, Shah Rukh Khan recently attended the Kolkata Police annual cultural programme. However, the event has led to controversy after a woman Sub Inspector named Sampa Haldar danced with Shah Rukh Khan on a song from his filmJab Tak Hai Jaan

Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee too was a part of this event and certain politicians accused her of allowing a woman police officer to dance with the Bollywood superstar in uniform. Former city police commissioner Nirupam Som claimed that she has belittled the sanctity of the uniform but maintained that she could have done this in civil clothes.

Former IPS officer Samir Gangopadhyay too voiced out similar thoughts and commented that he might soon see officers dancing like Chulbul Pandey referring to Salman Khan's dance in Dabangg

On the other hand, State Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury alleged Mamta Banerjee of going against the constitution by mentioning that the Indian Constitution does not allow anyone to dance in a uniform like that and Mamta who holds the reigns of the State should not have defied the rules. Also, BJP state president Rahul Sinha was of the opinion that Mamta Banerjee involves too many actors in the programmes and that she should quit politics soon.

Deepika Padukone not interested in doing cameos anymore

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, who had done special appearances in films earlier, is not interested in doing cameos anymore.
"Is this a question relevant to the event.. I don't do cameos anymore," Deepika said here at the launch of a song from her upcoming film 'Finding Fanny', directed by Homi Adjania, in which actor Ranveer Singh, who she is reportedly dating with, is playing a small role.
The actress had done a special song 'Love Mera Hit Hit' in Shah Rukh Khan's home production film 'Billu' (2009) and another one in Rohan Sippy's 'Dum Maro Dum'. Deepika was reportedly seen spending time with Ranveer while the latter was shooting for his next film 'Dil Dhadakne Do', directed by Zoya Akhtar, in Turkey and Barcelona.
Deepika Padukone, who had done special appearances in films earlier, is not interested in doing cameos anymore. The film revolves around a dysfunctional family which is on a cruise trip. It features an ensemble cast, including Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma, Anil Kapoor and Shefali Shah.
'Dil Dhadakane Do' is scheduled to release on June 5 next year. Ranveer and Deepika will be seen together in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much-talked-about film 'Bajirao Mastani'.
On reports that she has alloted 365 days for shooting 'Bajirao Mastani', the actress retorted, "I don't know where this came from. It is not true. I don't think I would ever be able to say (that) I will give 'x' days for a film. Sometimes it (shooting) gets over early (and) at times it takes longer.
Our aim as actors is to complete film ...make a good film, the number of days does not matter."

Kareena Kapoor is happy doing song-and-dance roles

Kareena Kapoor Khan, who plays as Ajay Devgn's lady love in Singham Returns says she prefers song-and-dance roles over action.
"I'm too feminine, I'm not suited for action-oriented roles. I prefer song-and-dance sequences," she told a leading daily.
Though the actress has tried a hand at action in films like Tashan and Agent Vinod, feels she is best suited for feminine roles.Kareena Kapoor KhanKareena Kapoor Khan in a still form Singham Returns
Infact, the actress is happy with her work status.
"I am happy and proud that even after marriage I am working with Ajay and Salman… getting offered big-budget commercial films. Being married is not a crime and it has nothing to do with my career. Hindi movies are changing. Today it's all about good actors, not about young and old. I am happy to be married and 33," Kareena says.
Kareena who plays character of a spunky and vivacious girl in Singham Returns, says she just couldn't say no to Rohit Shetty as he has given him very successful films.
When asked whether commercial cinema excites her of offbeat, Kareena said, "I am a commercial actress. It is a part of me. I am both a star and an actress. I can't be just doing off-beat films."

Bollywood singers talk about actors singing their own songs

Shraddha Kapoor, Ali Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Ayushmann Khurraana...they've all done it. Should stars sing their own songs? Bollywood singers have their say...

Mohit Chauhan: "It's a fantastic trend! We get to hear a variety of new voices and experience a new facet of an actor's talents. Our film industry has always had singing stars. So this would just be an extension of an existent trend. Having said that, I must also say that we must seriously look at some serious role reversal, with singers being signed up to act."

Alisha Chinai: "Can you imagine Julia Roberts lip-syncing to Madonna? It is happening here. Playback singing was never a credible trend. The trend of ghost voices had to change, as it does justice neither to the actor nor the singer. I am glad actors are waking up to the possibilities in their own voices. Now every Bollywood actor is a wannabe singer....great!"

Kailash Kher: "Trends in the film industry are cyclic, like life itself. In the beginning our cinema had actors who would sing like K L Saigal, Surendranath, Tun Tun (Uma Devi), Noorjehan, Suraiya and Kishore Kumar. During those days filmmakers preferred to sign actors who could sing. Today actors and musicians are successfully blurring the lines between singing and acting. It's all good as long as they sing as well as they can act."

Adnan Sami: "Why not? If they have the talent to sing they should and must. God has blessed us with many talents and it's our duty to harness it and share it with the world. If you got, flaunt it."

Wajid (Sajid-Wajid): "It's a great trend. Actors and actresses singing shows that the craze for film music is growing by the day. Stars singing expands their claims to versatility. I am glad our film stars are following the pattern abroad were actors sing their own songs in musicals."

Alka Yagnik: "(tongue-in-cheek) Anything is possible these days. So I too have decided to get into acting now."

Anand Raj Anand: "As long as stars sing as a diversion and not as a rule it's okay. In Kaante I requested Sanju Baba to sing a song with an attitude 'Collar Ko Thodasa Upar Chadhake'. It was a hit."

Sunidhi Chauhan: "I think it's totally cool for actors to sing their own songs in films. Why shouldn't they, if they sound good?"

#Alimony or #AllYourMoney?

Hrithik Roshan has in a short span of time, been through a lean phase, a head injury on the sets of Krrish 3, a brain surgery, separation and now an expensive divorce - a whopping `400cr in alimony! And while we can't help but sympathise with him, Twitter isn't as kind. And while some fans and followers get downright nasty commenting about the matter, some were genuinely funny. Rashi_kakkar: Suzanne khan is the latest entrant in the #Bollywood 100cr+ club. Alimony = 400 Cr. That my friend, is the keemat of ek chutki sindhoor.
sumitsaurabh: Suzzane khan demanded 400 crore in alimony. Arvind Kejriwal : iski jaanch honi chahiye ji,ye corruption hai hai ji
Chitku_Bandar: Q. What Suzzane sing for Hrithik on phone? A. You are my pumpkin pumpkin Hello Alimoney I am dumping dumping Hello Alimoney..

Hotties to melt wax!

Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra race to get immortalised at Madam Tussauds
Who will be the next Bollywood star to rub shoulders with the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan at Madam Tussauds in London? Yes, after immortalising six superstars in wax, the world-famous museum is on the lookout for a new face. And, for the first time, the officials are calling for votes to decide who should be added to the line-up in 2015. What's more, they have short-listed three of the most beautiful heroines -- Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra -- making your job easier (or tougher) depending on how you look at it!
While the race is on, we deconstruct the lovely ladies and their odds of making it to the coveted museum...
Priyanka Chopra: A former beauty queen, a successful actress and an international singer, Priyanka is a dynamic package. She has also been in the industry longer than her rivals. The actress has already clinched the National Award for her performance in Fashion and won rave reviews for her autistic act in Barfi! Priyanka was crowned Asia's Sexiest Woman in 2012 and is the only desi actress to turn singer on foreign soil. She released her first single In My City in collaboration with international artistes and had American rap singer will.i.am featuring in it! PC showed her philanthropic side when she was appointed as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Child Rights in 2010. She is currently filming Dil Dhadakne Do in which Ranveer Singh plays her brother. Incidentally, he had played her romantic interest in Gunday! PC's boxer avatar in the poster from her upcoming film Mary Kom got some glowing comments from the film fraternity itself. No doubt, the actress has been reinventing herself to stay on-top-of-the-game, and a waxed statue should be another feather in her glorious cap!
Deepika Padukone: She is in an enviable position today. The reigning queen of Bollywood, Deepika has given four back-to-back super hits. Chennai Express with Shah Rukh Khan put her in Rs200-crore film bracket. Tall, willowy and beautiful, Dippy can look simple or sexy in a jiffy. She makes a good pair with heroes who are older to her like SRK (she will be seen with him again in Happy New Year) and Akshay Kumar as well as the GenNext guys like Arjun Kapoor (Finding Fanny). Of course, she has the best chemistry with her ex Ranbir Kapoor and after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani teams up with him for Tamaasha. The leggy lass will also be seen with the much older and seasoned actor Irrfan in Piku. To top it all, she will play Mastani to Ranveer Singh in Bajirao Mastani. Though Ranveer with whom she sizzled in Ram Leela is rumoured to be her boyfriend, the dimpled beauty refuses to lend credence to it. And yes, young girls look up to her as the style icon! She along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan were the only Bolly actresses to make it to the list of the World's 30 Most Beautiful People in a poll conducted by Hollywood buzz. While Aishwarya has already made it to Madam Tussuads, it's a matter of time before Deepika follows.
Katrina Kaif: Stunningly attractive, Katrina has been named the World's Sexiest Woman by FHM, not ones but five times! UK Magazine Eastern Eye had her billed as the Sexiest Asian Woman for three years consecutively. Besides, Kats has the distinction of working with all the top heroes including Khan trio (Salman, SRK, Aamir). Now, she is adding another Khan, Saif Ali to her film kitty with Phantom. She will also be seen romancing the GenNext star Aditya Roy Kapoor in a film based on Great Expectations. The sizzling chemistry she shared with Hrithik Roshan in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is set to be recreated in Bang Bang while Jagga Jasoos sees her teaming up with her beau Ranbir Kapoor again after Raajneeti. Katrina, who zoomed past competition with Dhoom 3 that raked in Rs400 crore, is the only Bolly actress to have a Barbie doll modelled after her! Will a wax statue in her homeland be far behind?
Latest Holly stars in the museum
Benedict Cumberbatch
: TV's most popular Sherlock Holmes, Benedict will be the latest actor to have his wax figure at the museum. He was recently measured up for his clone. Benedict who has a great sense of humour joked, "Finally, I can photo-bomb myself." For those who came in late, Benedict famously photo-bombed pictures of other stars at the Oscar red carpet.
Ryan Gosling: The Proposal star or rather his wax figure has made a guest appearance at the London museum this July. A summer attraction, his statue will hold residence till December after which it will be sent to Orlando. Installed a week ago, Ryan dressed in a navy blue suit and black bow tie complete with shiny black dress shoes has been getting an overwhelming reception especially from his female fans!
Jennifer Lopez: The sexy singer-actress has already been waxed in the museum a decade ago, but thanks to her special FIFA World Cup song Ola Ola, JLO got another figurine dressed in a replica of the outfit she wears in the official song - Italian parrot print hot pants teamed with a abstract graphic colour print sweatshirt. Her statue is placed in the music area alongside global stars such as Adele, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
Angelina Jolie-Brad Pitt: The power couple had its statues updated last December to commemorate Brad Pitt's 50th birthday. Brangelina were already a popular attraction in the museum and the new statues have added to the appeal. With Angelina dressed in her famous blue gown with a thigh high split that she wore to the Golden Globes in January 2012 and Brad in a black suit the couple looks 'premiere ready' as the wax museum describes them.

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn is back in the news for the much anticipated Singham Returns. But recently, although the star was scheduled to promote his upcoming flick on the sets of popular television show 'Comedy Nights with Kapil', he had to reportedly call it off as he fell ill.
According to media reports, Ajay Devgn has been suffering from a high fever and is suspected to have malaria. Ajay was willing to shoot despite being unwell, but we stopped him for taking any strain, the creative director of the television show clarified.
However, it is learnt that Ajay has now recovered and is filming the last song of his forthcoming movie.
One of the famous celebrity love story came to an end when Bollywood’s hot couple Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan decided to part their ways. The news was sad as well as shocking not only for their family members but also for millions of fans who prayed for their blissful married life. The two had reportedly filed for divorce earlier this year and if the latest reports are to be believed, Hrithik’s estranged wife Sussanne apparently quoted a price as high as Rs. 400 crore as alimony amount.

Sussanne demands Rs. 400 crore alimony from Hrithik

In December, last year, the estranged couple had issued separate official statements to the media confirming the separation. In his statement Hrithik Roshan had said, “This is my greatest tribute to love. Sussanne is and always will be the love of my life for the rest of my life. If her smiles are brighter without me, my love for her must accomplish that.” Sussanne also presented a statement to the media saying, “We are two individuals who respect and care for each other and have made our own individual choices. We are parents to two wonderful kids and our responsibility remains to protect and take care of them. Nothing can change that. Would appreciate if we are given our privacy in such a time. Thank you for your warmth and concern for both of us and the family.”
Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne got married in the year 2000 and have two kids - Hrehaan and Hridhaan. Despite having differences, both were recently seen celebrating their son’s birthday togetherin Lonavala, proving their responsibility towards their kids. The duo moved to the family court and filed a request for divorce on April 30.

The Bollywood Kabaddi League

Chances are you've read of the new Pro Kabaddi League that kicked off in India last weekend. Chances are you've read more about which industrialists and Bollywood stars own kabaddi teams than about the players themselves. A few years ago, this would have made me extremely angry. I'd have moaned about how athletes outside of cricket aren't given their cultural and economic due. I've now come to live with the fact that India believes in the Bollywood trickle-down theory. Add Bollywood and industrialist star power to any product and hope that interest in that product trickles down to their fans once they get a first look.
Every aspect of the Kabaddi League broadcast was designed to appeal to this viewer. The jhintak lighting straight out of a 80s disco was probably meant to recreate a windows media player visualization. If you started doing shots every time the over-enthusiastic commentator uttered the words "fast, quick and catchy" you'd be drunk in five minutes. The camera cut to reaction shots of every major Bollywood celebrity even though most didn't seem to understand why so many grown men were trying to touch each other and run away. Even Sachin Tendulkar made the right noises about how he doesn't support a specific team but the sport of Kabaddi in general. It was a gargantuan media effort designed to tell people "So many important people are interested in the sport, why aren't you?"
Unfortunate as it might be for a sport, would I have watched the first day if it weren't for so many people campaigning? Probably not. Fortunately the matches were fantastic and I tuned in the day after not for the celebrities but for the game. I imagine there would be a lot of people like me and even if there aren't, atleast a whole lot of people got a sense of what the sport was about on the first day. Either way it's a win-win for the players.
As I type Indian athletes are putting in spectacular performances at the Commonwealth Games so we as a nation can forget them within a year while they languish to find economic support systems. Maybe that's what we need in the likes of weightlifting, shooting and athletics as well. A formation of a league where Bollywood stars and industrialists can own players and teams so the nation at large can wake up to those sports more often than once every four years. We aren't a country that loves sport but no one can question our love for Bollywood. Maybe it will trickle down.
